About this site

Get On The Bus Lawrence is a joint effort to promote coordination between KU on Wheels and the Lawrence Transit System.

In August 2008, the City of Lawrence and the University of Kansas designated staff members from each entity to pursue opportunities for both transit systems to work together. The intentions of both the City and the University are to examine the potential for enhanced coordination.

First coordinated transit route launches
Riders of both the city and university bus systems are benefitting from a new route that launched in August. Route 11 is a coordinated effort between the Lawrence Transit System and KU on Wheels.

For city bus riders, the route offers increased frequencies, with buses running every 30 minutes during the weekday. University bus riders gain service on evenings, Saturdays, and school breaks, when KU buses do not run.

The new route 11 connects downtown, main campus, several apartment complexes, and the retail area at 31st and Iowa streets. One city bus route and two university bus routes were merged in order to create route 11. The T route 8 will no longer operate, nor will KU routes 24 and 25. View a map and schedules for Route 11.
